Part-Time Hourly Research Associate
Individuals in this position are primarily responsible for planning and conducting data collection, analysis, and reporting for the independent evaluation of funded research projects. Additional responsibilities will include direct engagement with area youths via STEM-related outreach activities.
Duties/Responsibilities may include the following:
- Conduct observations, develop and validate evaluation instruments, direct assessments, interviews and surveys with participants and other key stakeholders.
- Conduct quantitative data analyses through the use of both descriptive statists as well as more advanced statistical modeling.
- Attend meetings of leadership team and other education, training, and outreach events.
- Manage correspondence, scheduling, meeting preparation, and electronic project files.
- Maintain IRB approval and consent forms.
- Prepare interim and final reports and other presentations for review and approval by the Director and evaluation team.
- Assist in planning and execution of STEM-related outreach activities for youths.
- Provide general supervision to undergraduate students assisting with data analysis and reporting.
Position Requirements and Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and knowledge of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s environment, academic programs, polices, and procedures is required.
- A Master’s Degree in Education, Social Sciences, or evaluation and research methodology is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, computer, and organizational skills are required.
- Experience in STEM fields is preferred.
- Knowledge and/or experience in evaluation and research methodology is required.
- Knowledge and/or experience in qualitative and quantitative data analysis is required.
- Familiarity and experience with the OPRS (Office for the Protection of Research Subjects) procedures and regulations is preferred.
Description of Work Environment:
The work will typically be conducted at the I-STEM Education Initiative office. A computer and work area will be provided. Some may work may occur at other locations on (or off) campus—such as observations, distributing surveys, meetings, and outreach events.
